Embryo Transfer & Bovine In-Vitro Fertilisation
TLG offers on-farm and in-centre Embryo Transfer (ET) programs. Both large and small scale projects are carried out efficiently and quickly using the latest reproductive technology. Our mobile laboratories further extend the reach of our services, eliminating the need to transport livestock. These laboratories are approved by AQIS» for export processing of embryos that allow collection on-farm. At TLG, we believe that a systematic approach to embryo transfer will deliver the most consistent results.
In-Vitro Fertilisation Success
With the aid of TLG, breeder Travis Gilmore of Yarrawalla, Victoria, managed 19 In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) calves from 29 embryos transferred from a cow he thought was no longer capable of reproducing. He has been a regular user of ET and IVF technology and believes the use of both systems in conjunction is ideal for maximising reproductive efficiency.
The TLG ET team aims to produce the maximum pregnancies per embryo transferred. We are also working with leading animal nutritionists to maximise reproductive performance.
Bovine embryo collections at TLG, Glenormiston
Both small and large scale export embryo projects are being conducted at Glenormiston. We are currently flushing for export to the European Union, Brazil and New Zealand amongst others. The facility is well sheltered and offers double fencing for the segregation of donors of differing health testing status. The export embryos are collected, processed and frozen by the AQIS accredited team, according to the protocols of the International Embryo Transfer Society (IETS)».
Dr. Shane Ashworth is accredited and approved by AQIS for the collection and processing of embryos for export (# ETV007). As the Collection Team Veterinarian, he is also registered and approved by the IETS (# 1373).

Domestic Programs - Maximising Genetic Gain
At our Glenormiston embryo facility, our Wagyu clients are undertaking large scale embryo collection projects to maximise their genetic gain. Embryos are implanted into contract herds throughout Victoria.

Ovine Embryo Collections at TLG, Glenormiston
Ovine embryo donors are housed securely in one of our two sheep collection centres. Isolation and health testing according to the importing country's protocols are conducted either prior to, or post-collection as the case may be. Embryos are collected, processed and frozen according to the protocols of the International Embryo Transfer Society (IETS)». The embryo collection team recently flushed, froze and subsequently transferred meat Merino embryos in a major program in Argentina.
